For the last decade Inverness Research has worked with the Science for Monks (SFM) program helping them document and portray their work. Our researchers travel to India and Bhutan as participant observers doing ethnographic work so that they can portray the nature of the SFM work, the learning of the monastics, as well as the experiences of western educators; through interviews and extended site visits our researchers have studied many different SFM institutes and workshops. Our goal is to help communicate to others the value of the SFM work and how it serves monks, nuns, the monastic educational system, and the western faculty who participate. This portfolio of field reports summarizes that work, and we hope it will provide others with insight into the reasons for and benefits of the SFM program.
